Description

Number of Pages: 21

This is a reproduction, not a photocopy, of an original 12″ Atlas Metal Lathes Instructions and Parts Manual for models 3980, 3981, 3982, 3983, 3990, and 3991. These lathes were also sold under the Craftsman brand name, and covers the models 101.27580, 101.27590, 101.28930, 101.28940, 101.28950, and 101.28970. These lathes were manufactured in the 1960’s.

This Atlas lathe manual contains information on set up, lubrication, maintenance, and controls as well as a complete parts list and exploded views diagrams. The manual has a excellent description of removing the headstock spindle, removing the back gears, assembling the back gears, and resembling the headstock spindle. It also has a very excellent and very important description on adjusting the spindle and back gear, with Timken Bearings which is critical. The lathe manual also has electrical wiring diagram in the back.

We also have the Manual of Lathe Operations that would cover these model. I highly recommend this book, because it covers how to properly operate a metal lathe, includes the threading charts, and shows how to use all the attachments Atlas made for these lathes. We carry 6 different versions of this book to cover the different models the one that covers the lathe models 3980, 3981, 3982, 3983, 3990, and 3991 is located at this link:

Overview:

I have collected this information for many years and have found the information they contain to be priceless in using and setting up the machines properly. I believe this manual will be a valuable resource of knowledge that will provide a lot of helpful information that is often hard to find. My manuals are not photocopies. I maintain a high standard of quality in my reproductions. Most of the manuals I reproduce look better than their originals. I have professionally digitally edited every page, and removed stains, wrinkles and handwriting. All of the manuals are printed on thick white paper to withstand shop wear and tear, which is better than a low resolution pdf download.
