This is a reproduction of an original Hendey Operator’s Hand Book for Lathes Manual. I believe it is the first edition of this manual. I have the fourth edition of this manual in my store as well. There are no dates on this manual, but it does cover many of the cone head lathes and some of the earlier eight speed geared head lathes. I feel that the hand book was printed some where around the 1920’s.

The picture below shows the original size and condition of this manual. I found the larger size to be extremely helpful when viewing the threading and gear charts. It was unbelievable the difference it made to have the manual cleaned up and enlarged to 8.5″x 11″. I know you will enjoy it.

This is the cone head lathe covered in this manual.

This is the first 8 speed gear head that Hendey produced for the 12″ to 20″ lathes.

Contents:

The first chapter (pages 1-12) cover the specifications of the lathe from the cone head to the geared head. Chapter 2 (pages 13-41) covers changing the gear box with threading standard, metric and english lead screws as well as cutting charts. Chapter 3 (pages 42-68) covers many of the unusual attachments for these lathes. It also includes formulas for the attachments.

Overview:

I have collected this information for many years and have found the information they contain to be priceless in using and setting up the machines properly. I believe this manual will be a valuable resource of knowledge that will provide a lot of helpful information that is often hard to find. My manuals are not photocopies. I maintain a high standard of quality in my reproductions. Most of the manuals I reproduce look better than their originals. I have professionally digitally edited every page, and removed stains, wrinkles and handwriting. All of the manuals are printed on thick white paper to withstand shop wear and tear.
