This is a reproduction, not a photocopy, of an original Hardinge Plain or Spiral Dividing Heads and Gear Box operator’s and parts manual. This manual contains instructions how to properly operate the Hardinge dividing heads. This manual does not explain how a dividing head works, or the principles of dividing head operations on a mill. Hardinge assumed that you already have knowledge of how to use a dividing head.
The manual does include the tables of angles and compound gearing for cutting spirals, and index tables for Hardinge plain or spiral dividing heads with four and seven index plates. The manual also includes cross sectional view diagrams of the parts for the Hardinge dividing head, the tailstock and the gear box for cutting spirals or compound gearing.
